Great Things about Japanese CinemaOne of the great things I've found about Japanese Cinema is that nothing goes as expected in the plot. Here's an example: a female student's excessive attention to her teacher ("Graduation") doesn't mean she'll be soon hacking off his privates before the end of the film (I'm not talking about a Takashi Miike movie), nor will he get arrested for molesting a minor. You may see some familiar concepts, often "borrowed" from popular American films, but this new generation of Japanese writers and directors have found a way to twist well worn concepts into something fresh and unexpected.
